Well, I've been pretty bad this week, what with getting back into the school routine, but today I walked for over and hour and did weights, so that's good. I've been sleeping in too much, too, so the new goal is to try and get up earlier to work out before I have to leave in the morning.

I decided to mix things up a little today and do a workout DVD-- Crunch Fat-Burning Pilates. I also have their Burn and Firm Pilates, which is by the same instructor. They're fun, dance-inspired routines, and the instructor is peppy but not annoying. I think I might start doing DVDs on the weekends, when I have more time, because I really like these and the Tae Bo ones I have, and they get my blood pumping more than my usual workouts do.

So far I've managed to resist the jumbo, soft-baked chocolate chip cookies from the cafe in my building at school. I consider it a major victory.

I finally remembered to weigh myself this morning: 127 lbs.

Now that school has started again, I'll probably be making weekly entries instead of daily ones. So far, I've been keeping up the good work, but we'll see how that goes once things get really busy.

I was going to weigh myself this morning and I forgot. I try to do it before I eat, so I get the most accurate number.

Today I walked (about 2 hours), yesterday I did weights, including as many push-ups as I could do (which was not many). School starts this week, so I won't be able to walk for as long a time as I like as frequently anymore--I'll have to supplement with shorter but more intense runs on the Nordictrek. I hate it, but it gets me sweating like nothing else.

My diet has been good today, but yesterday I had a total sugar binge. I gave into it because the cravings were unrelenting, and I don't feel too guilty. Sometimes I think you have to give your body what it wants, and mine wanted sugar. I've just got to make sure I indulge infrequently.

I can really see (and feel) how the weight training is changing my body. It's pretty encouraging, to get results so fast.

Yesterday: Massive, splitting headache, so I did nothing.

Today: Walking, walking, walking. Yeah, I should probably mix it up more, but at least it's something.

I've eaten too many sweets today (as usual), but otherwise have been pretty good.

I walked for 45 minutes today and then did my weight routine. I took some extra time to stretch, too, since that's something I tend to rush. I'm already noticing more firmness in my upper arms and thighs, which are my biggest problems areas.

I just got my completed schedule for this semester, and luckily, I won't have to be on campus at the crack of dawn, so I'll have time to work out in the morning. Being too tired after coming home from class and not wanting to shower twice a day (I have very dry, easily-irritated skin) was my major excuse for not exercising last semester. I prefer doing it in the morning anyway, since it gets it over with.

I've done really, really well today, which is good because after I posted yesterday, I snacked even more. Oops.

I did, however, over-do the walking a bit. When I get into listening to music I lose track of time, and now my legs are killing me.

I've just done some gentle yoga stretches today, due to being a bit under the weather, but I think I'll walk for awhile now. Food-wise I've done alright, though I have to curb my snacking habit. Little stuff here and there adds up fast. My meals have been healthy, though:

Breakfast
fruit and yogurt smoothie
almond butter and sugar-free raspberry jelly sandwich on whole grain toast

Lunch
whole grain pasta w/tomato sauce
Luna Bar
grapes

And I plan on having a Boca Burger for dinner.

Meanwhile, Snacks
airpopped popcorn (2 WW points)
3 fig newtons (3 WW points)
Weight Watchers lemon snack cake (1 WW point)
Kashi chocolate chip cookie (2 WW points)

Not terrible, but that's 8 extra points wasted on little stuff.

And now, to walk. Tomorrow I think I'll use the iTunes giftcards I got for Christmas to download some new music to walk to.

Starting stats:

Weight: 127 lbs
Height: 5' 4"
Body Mass Index: 21.8 (Healthy = 18.5-24.9)
Measurements: Bust 36" Waist 28" Hips 36"
Waist-to-hip ratio: .78 (Healthy = .7 range)

So, basically I'm at a really good starting point. The challenge is going to be keeping my weight in the 120s and increasing my fitness level, especially my strength. I have a tendency to slack off once I reach a healthy weight, figuring I can afford to eat whatever and not work out, and of course, before I know it, I've gained everything back. I don't want that to happen again, hence, this journal to keep me on track. I also don't want to start making excuses once school starts back up and I'm busy--I've got to make time to work out, even if it's just for a few minutes a day.

Goals:
1. Keep weight in the 120s, preferably 120-125lbs.
2. Increase muscle strength and tone, lose flab.
3. Stick with current healthy diet, but add more veggies and try to cut out sweets as much as possible.
4. Look hot.
5. Live a really long time.

Today's (and yesterday's) diet rating: Very good. Go me.
